Since 1991 we have rescued over 43M pounds of food in Greenville County from over 150 grocery stores, factories, farms, and restaurants in the Upstate. As the oldest and largest food rescue in the Upstate, it is our mission to eliminate food waste and food insecurity across the Greenville County food ecosystem. The Gleaning Project of South Central Pennsylvania, Franklin County Division

The Gleaning Project is South Central Pennsylvania's collaborative, nonprofit effort to reduce food loss on local farms, and increase food security in our communities. We are part of South Central Community Action Programs (SCCAP). Our Mission: Make good use of agricultural excess - The food system creates waste on all levels of food production and distribution. We work with local growers to reduce the amount of food loss on their farms and gardens by collecting and redistributing the produce to those who need it most. Reduce food insecurity and improve community health - In an area that is so agriculturally abundant, we still struggle to ensure everyone has access to fresh to fruits and vegetables. Our produce is distributed, at no cost, to many locations around Adams and Franklin counties to increase the number of access points for our community members. Connect our community - We are a community solution to food insecurity. We work with a large network of growers, community partners, and volunteers to make our mission as efficient and impactful as possible. Our Vision: The Gleaning Project strives for a more equitable and sustainable food system. We envision a South Central Pennsylvania where farmers are supported, the local food economy is thriving, and everyone can access enough food to lead a healthy, active lifestyle.

The Hunger Network

We have a network of over 70 Hunger Centers strategically placed throughout Cuyahoga County. Hunger Network food pantries provide a three-day supply of groceries for each member of the household once a month based on requirements. We have hot meal programs throughout our network that offer complete and nutritious congregate meals, which are open to the community free of charge. Because our Hunger Center clients not only live in food desserts and experience food insecurity daily, they also live in areas that lack access to basic health resources. It is our mission to increase and maintain wellness for our Hunger Center clients and their families. Since 2016, Hunger Network staff, students, pharmacy experts, and health care professionals have completed more than 15,000 preventive health screenings to 2,300 Cuyahoga County residents. Our team continues to schedule educational speakers and present materials on topics such as nutrition, healthy cooking, and mental health. Hunger Network Food Rescue launched in November of 2018 with one goal: to bridge the gap between food waste and hunger. 40% of food is wasted while 1 in 5 Clevelanders face hunger. Our food rescue program acts as a direct response to bridge that disconnect while also addressing the environmental issues associated with food waste in our landfills. The Food Rescue Hero app developed by 412 Food Rescue in Pittsburgh, connects food suppliers to nonprofits through a dedicated corps of volunteers who transport fresh produce daily.
